Child Health And Immunisation

By appointment only

Child health and immunisation clinics are run by the doctors, nurses and health visitors and all new babies are invited for regular check-ups from eight weeks old.

Ages of Immunisations are

8 weeks, 12 weeks, 16 weeks, 12 months, 3.5 years, 15 years.

Note that School Age children will have other vaccinations given by school nurses in addition to the vaccines at the surgery. You will be notified of these by the school.

Health Visitor Checks

Your newborn will be discharged from the midwife and passed onto the Health Visitor and they are a point of contact for Children from the ages of approx 1 month until 5 years. Parents can contact Health Visitors for advice and they will have a standard health check when the child reaches 2 years of age.

It is important that babies attend their 6 week check with the GP prior to having their first immunisations (between 6 and 8 weeks). This ensures that the baby is safe to complete their immunisation course.

New mums are also offered a post-natal check with the GP and this can be anything from 6-12 weeks postnatal.
