Mounjaro Update

Posted on:

The LMC Local medical committee have provided an update regarding Mounjaro.

The ICB has still not agreed a process for prescribing Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) for weight loss.

The criterial remains the same – BMI>40 with at least 4 comorbidities. Originally, the proposal was for triage and initiation to be done by Tier 3 hospital service, and follow up within general practice.

Th ICB are now discussing with LMC a proposal to offer the whole service to general practices. Once we receive any further information we will let you know.

Therefore the implementation of NHS service for weight loss is being put back until at least the end of 2025.
